Pa. Supreme Court Overturns Foreclosure Notice Ruling

Law360, New York (September 26, 2013, 5:28 PM ET) -- The Pennsylvania Supreme Court found Wednesday that state courts have jurisdiction over foreclosure cases even when notices provided to homeowners don't entirely live up to state guidelines, overturning a lower court's ruling that had prevented a foreclosure case from going to trial.

The high court reversed and remanded a 2012 Superior Court ruling that a deficient foreclosure notice issued by appellant Beneficial Consumer Discount Co. under Act 91 — a state law dictating that foreclosure notices include information about opportunities for loan modifications and credit counseling...
