Calif. Issues Toxic Chemical List In Push For Safe Products

Law360, New York (September 27, 2013, 3:51 PM ET) -- As part of its landmark Green Chemistry Initiative, California on Thursday named hundreds of toxic chemicals that manufacturers may eventually need to replace in their consumer products, including bisphenol A and formaldehyde.

The initiative, which will go into effect Tuesday, establishes a process for companies to review whether they can make their products using safer alternatives to ingredients identified by the state Department of Toxic Substances Control as potentially harmful to consumer health and the environment.
