Fla. Sues Ga. Over Apalachicola Bay Freshwater Source

Law360, Miami (October 01, 2013, 7:57 PM ET) -- Florida Gov. Rick Scott and Attorney General Pam Bondi on Tuesday followed through on a pledge to sue Georgia over its “unchecked and growing” water consumption, which they say is damaging fisheries in Apalachicola Bay and threatening northwest Florida's economic future.

Florida's lawsuit in the U.S. Supreme Court escalates a decadeslong battle that has pitted Florida and Alabama against Georgia in a struggle over fresh water in the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint river basins, which drain into the bay.
