Apple Asks Fed. Circ. To Overturn $368M VirnetX Verdict

Law360, New York (October 23, 2013, 10:04 PM ET) -- Apple Inc. urged the Federal Circuit last week to reverse a $368 million jury verdict finding that Apple's FaceTime application infringed multiple VirnetX Holding Corp. patents, saying the trial court misconstrued the patents' claims and jurors unreasonably failed to recognize the patents’ invalidity.

In its Oct. 17 opening brief, the California-based tech giant raised several objections to the lower court's handling of the suit and its outcome, saying the judge who heard the case misinterpreted the patents and improperly prevented jurors from learning about patent reexamination...
