Whole Foods Sushi Provider Cuts $1.25M Deal With Chefs

Law360, Washington (November 08, 2013, 7:02 PM ET) -- Whole Foods Market Inc.’s main sushi provider, Genji LLC, and a putative class of Genji sushi chefs asked a California federal judge on Thursday to preliminarily approve a $1.25 million settlement, in a suit claiming Genji didn’t pay employees overtime or give them adequate breaks.

Under the terms of the deal, $1.1 million of the agreement will settle California Labor Code claims made by the sushi chefs and team leaders for the November 2008 to January 2013 time period, while $150,000 will go toward Fair Labor...
