Boeing 777X Site Up In Air After Union Rejects Contract

Law360, New York (November 14, 2013, 4:15 PM EST) -- Boeing Co.’s plans to make its next-generation 777X airliner in Washington hit turbulence on Wednesday when its largest union rejected an eight-year labor contract extension that was a condition for guaranteeing the airliner’s manufacture in-state.

The International Association of Machinists & Aerospace Workers District 751 voted 67 percent to 33 percent against the Boeing contract, which would have gone into effect in 2016, providing a $10,000 signing bonuses for each worker and upping pension benefits for workers 58 or older who choose to retire.
