State Lawmakers Defend Turf On Insurance Regulation

Law360, New York (November 15, 2013, 7:43 PM EST) -- Fired up by the Financial Stability Board's recent call for greater federal oversight of insurers, a group of state legislators is considering formally requesting that all U.S. representatives involved in international insurance policy discussions stand behind the positions taken by state regulators.

The National Conference of Insurance Legislators' committee on international insurance issues will vote Nov. 22 on a resolution that expresses the group's support for keeping U.S. insurance regulation in the hands of the states.
