Medtronic Faces Stent Patent Suit From J&J, Wyeth

Law360, New York (March 5, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Wyeth and Johnson & Johnson subsidiary Cordis Inc. have sued Medtronic Inc. for patent infringement over its Endeavor drug-eluting stent. The move follows Medtronic's Feb. 1 announcement that it had won regulatory approval to enter the U.S. market for drug-coated coronary stents.

In a quarterly report filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Tuesday, Medtronic said that it is indemnified for the claims made by Wyeth and Cordis and that the three patents at issue in the lawsuit are the subject of pending arbitration...
