Kanye West Likely To Win 'Coinye' Suit, Judge Says

Law360, New York (January 16, 2014, 6:45 PM ET) -- A federal judge said Thursday that hip-hop artist Kanye West would likely win his lawsuit against digital currency “Coinye West,” which he claims infringes his famous name.

U.S. District Judge Analisa Torres said at a hearing in New York federal court that West showed a “likelihood of success on the merits” in his case against the so-far anonymous backers of the soundalike digital currency. West filed suit Tuesday to halt efforts to launch the currency.
