Capitol Bancorp Judge Confirms Liquidation Plan

Law360, New York (January 29, 2014, 6:43 PM ET) -- Capitol Bancorp Ltd. received the go-ahead to begin winding down as a bankruptcy judge signed off its liquidation plan Wednesday, just a couple of months after it won court approval to sell its subsidiary banks to Wilbur Ross Jr.'s Talmer Bancorp Inc.

The bank holding company received substantial pushback to its proposed plan in December but came to terms with its opponents, including its official committee of unsecured creditors, through a series of settlements on Dec. 31.
