EPA Grants Texas Greenhouse Gas Permitting Authority

Law360, New York (February 5, 2014, 4:03 PM EST) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency agreed Tuesday to hand over greenhouse gas permitting authority to Texas, approving a state proposal that would replace a federal plan currently in place, according to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

The EPA has signed a Federal Register notice proposing to adopt a state implementation plan for greenhouse gas emissions regulation, the TCEQ said. Texas will formally take over once the EPA finalizes the proposal, which the state regulator said won't happen until later this year.
