Ex-Gemstar CFO Settles With SEC For $1.3M

Law360, New York (February 8, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- The former chief financial officer of scandal-scarred cable provider Gemstar has reached a settlement with the Securities and Exchange Commission, agreeing to pay $1.3 million to end the agency’s investigation into her alleged role in the massive accounting fraud at the company.

As part of the deal, ex-CFO Elsie Leung will also be permanently barred from serving as an officer of a public company.
