American Airlines Settles Military-Leave Class Action

Law360, New York (April 17, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- American Airlines Inc. has agreed to a settle a class action brought by 353 pilots who claim the airline owes them vacation credit and sick-leave benefits for time spent on military leave.

If the settlement is approved by the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Dallas, the largest commercial airline in the U.S. will pay the pilots a total of $345,772 for the loss of vacation and sick-leave benefits.

The settlement also will require American Airlines to provide currently employed pilots with sick-leave credits....
