K&L Gates Talks Merger With Charlotte Firm
Law360, New York (May 01, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- Law firms Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Preston Gates Ellis LLP and Kennedy Covington Lobdell & Hickman LLP have initiated merger talks, which, if successful, will create a 1,700-lawyer firm.
The firms said on Thursday that they have begun discussing a deal that could take effect as soon as July 1. The merger would create a 1,700-attorney firm with 28 offices across the U.S., Europe and Asia.
The merger would give K&L Gates a significant presence in Charlotte, N.C., where Kennedy Covington is based.
