Deals Rumor Mill: Telecom Italia, EPH, Shell

By Benjamin Horney (December 11, 2014, 6:31 PM EST) -- A potential $15 billion offer for Telecom Italia SpA's Brazilian mobile phone unit TIM Participacoes SA may not be good enough for Telecom Italia, according to a Thursday report from Bloomberg. Brazilian telecom powerhouse Oi SA is teaming up with Mexico's America Movil SAB and Spain's Telefonica SA to make a $15 billion bid, but Telecom Italia believes TIM is worth $25 billion, according to the report. The $10 billion gap could be too much for the trio, the report said, noting that Telecom Italia may instead attempt to simply merge with Oi. Discussions among the three companies concerning a bid for TIM have been ongoing for months....
