Quintiles Sued Over Drug Data Collection Patent

Law360, New York (June 27, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- Health care software supplier Datasci LLC has filed a patent infringement suit against Quintiles Transnational Corp. over data collection technology used to speed up drug trials.

Datasci's suit, filed Thursday in the U.S. District for the District of Maryland, accuses the clinical research organization of infringing Datasci's patent for a system to collect and validate clinical trial data.

The suit names Durham, N.C.-based QTC and Rockville, Md.-based Quintiles Inc. The defendants are contract research organizations, which work with drug companies to conduct clinical trials and prepare...
