Deals Rumor Mill: RadioShack, AT&T, Staples

By Benjamin Horney (February 3, 2015, 6:11 PM EST) -- RadioShack Corp. could soon cease to be, Bloomberg reported Tuesday, as the struggling consumer electronics retailer is in talks with both Sprint Corp. and Amazon.com Inc. concerning a deal to sell half of RadioShack's stores and close down the rest. RadioShack has been teetering on the edge of bankruptcy for months now, and on Monday there were reports that New York-headquartered hedge fund Standard General LP was on the verge of being named the stalking horse bidder at a bankruptcy auction for RadioShack. According to Tuesday's report, a deal with Sprint could see the former RadioShack locations become dual RadioShack-Sprint stores, while a deal with Amazon would likely mean the end of the RadioShack brand. ...
