$422M MTBE Deal Made 'In Good Faith': Judge

Law360, New York (July 29, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- A federal judge has ruled that portions of a $422 million deal between gasoline refiners to settle claims they contaminated water with methyl tertiary-butyl ether were made in good faith, preventing nonsettling defendants like Exxon Mobil Corp. from using the amounts as a setoff against any damages awarded at trial.
