On April 29, Chief Justice John Roberts sent Congress a package amending Rules 1, 4, 16, 26, 30, 31, 33, 34, 37, 55 and 84 of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.[1] Unless Congress intercedes, these amendments, originally approved by the Judicial Conference in September 2014, will become effective on Dec. 1.
