Merger Talks Between Heller, Baker Fall Apart: Report

Law360, New York (August 12, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Client and practice conflicts have reportedly derailed merger talks between Heller Ehrman LLP and international law firm giant Baker & McKenzie.

The combination would have created a 4,000-lawyer team, with more than 600 attorneys coming from San Francisco-based Heller, but in a voice mail to partners on Monday, Heller chairman Matthew L. Larrabee said the firm has decided to abandon the deal, according to The Recorder.

Larrabee also told partners that another option was being considered, the news report said.
