Harvey Newkirk was a promising mergers and acquisitions lawyer on the fast track to partnership at Bryan Cave LLP. Then he agreed to work with a convicted con man named Calvin Darden Jr. in a failed attempt to buy Maxim magazine, and he found himself on trial for fraud. As Newkirk appeals his own conviction and prison sentence, the question remains: Was he a rogue attorney or another one of Darden’s victims?
