Supreme Court Hears Immigrant ID Theft Case

Law360, New York (February 25, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- The U.S. Supreme Court heard oral arguments Wednesday in a case of an illegal immigrant appealing his conviction of aggravated identify theft for presenting his employer with forged Social Security and permanent resident cards.

The worker, Ignacio Carlos Flores-Figueroa, claims that he didn't realize that the numbers on those identify cards belonged to real people when he presented them to the steel company he worked for in Illinois.
