Hong Kong Convicts 5 In 1st Insider Trading Trial

Law360, New York (March 12, 2009, 12:00 AM ET) -- A former banker at investment firm BNP Paribas and four others were found guilty in Hong Kong’s first-ever insider trading criminal trial, a finding the city’s securities regulator has called a “landmark decision.”

Ma Hon Yeung, a former vice president at BNP Paribas Peregrine Capital Ltd., was convicted of 12 counts of insider dealing in a district court, Hong Kong’s Securities and Futures Commission said Wednesday.
