MasterCard Faces New Hungarian Antitrust Probe

Law360, New York (August 03, 2012, 3:18 PM ET) -- Hungary's antitrust watchdog has begun an investigation into whether MasterCard Inc. abused its dominance in the country, a new probe that follows the company's ongoing battle with regulators to preserve its interchange fee system in Europe, the company said Wednesday.

Though the Hungarian Competition Authority has been looking into the credit card giant's interchange fees since late 2009, the regulator alerted MasterCard in June that it had launched a separate probe into claims that the company had abused its dominance in the domestic bank card market...
