DOJ Jumps Into Disk Drive Price-Fixing MDL

Law360, New York (May 19, 2010, 3:29 PM ET) -- The U.S. Department of Justice has won its way into the multidistrict litigation accusing LG Electronics Inc., Hitachi Ltd. and other optical disk drive makers of colluding to fix prices and using trade organization forums as a guise for meeting to discuss the agreements.

In an order Tuesday, Judge Vaughn R. Walker of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California granted a bid by the DOJ's Antitrust Division to intervene in the case for the purpose of seeking to limit civil discovery....
