B&N, Rival Settle E-Reader Trade Secrets Suit

Law360, New York (March 02, 2011, 12:08 PM ET) -- Spring Design Inc. settled its suit against Barnes & Noble Inc. over their rival e-readers Wednesday in a California federal court, sparing the companies a trial over trade secrets and unfair competition allegations.

Spring Design will give B&N a non-exclusive, paid-up royalty-free license for all of Spring Design's patents and patent applications, putting to rest pending litigation in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.

The lawsuit will be dismissed with prejudice, and the rest of the settlement was confidential, the companies said...
