Microsoft Stole Linking Technology, Inventor Claims

Law360, New York (May 18, 2005, 12:00 AM ET) -- A California jury heard arguments Tuesday in a lawsuit brought by an inventor who claims Microsoft Corp. misappropriated technology used to link spreadsheet data between its Excel spreadsheet and its Access database program.

In a patent infringement lawsuit filed in March 2003 with the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, Carlos Armando Amado is seeking damages that could exceed $500 million for stealing a technology that allows computer users to transfer data back and forth between Excel and Access by using a spreadsheet....
