Law360, New York (December 21, 2009, 1:00 PM ET) -- Luggage company Samsonite Corp. has agreed to pay nearly $1 million to settle a class action alleging it misclassified managers at its bankrupt retail unit Samsonite Co. Stores Inc. as exempt from overtime rules.
Judge Jeffrey S. White of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California on Friday granted a joint motion for preliminary approval of the settlement and certified a class of 89 managers.
