Ag-Mart Settles Migrant Worker Class Suits For $1.3M

Law360, New York (April 08, 2010, 5:00 PM ET) -- A federal judge has signed off on an agreement for Ag-Mart Produce Inc. to pay up to $1.25 million to settle eight proposed class actions accusing the grape tomato grower of cheating thousands of Latin American migrant farmworkers out of their full wages.

Judge Charlene E. Honeywell of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida gave the settlement preliminary approval Wednesday, ruling that the agreement was fair and reasonable enough to submit it to class members.
