Law360, New York (July 12, 2012, 6:56 PM ET) -- A New York federal judge on Thursday granted class certification in a suit brought by a former Hearst Corp. intern accusing the publishing company of violating labor laws by failing to pay its magazine interns.
U.S. District Judge Harold Baer said Xuedan Wang met the low threshold necessary for conditional certification in a collective action under the federal Fair Labor Standards Act. Wang claims she worked up to 55 unpaid hours a week while interning for Hearst's magazine Harper's Bazaar.
