Pa. High Court Won't Hear Challenge To Judge-Nixed Mortgage

Law360, Philadelphia (February 5, 2014, 5:20 PM ET) -- The Pennsylvania Supreme Court said Wednesday that it would not hear the appeal of a lower court's ruling that federal law does not prevent judges from voiding mortgage agreements through counterclaims brought during foreclosure proceedings.

The justices’ decision means a Superior Court ruling that affirmed a trial court's decision to void the mortgage agreement for a woman whose closing agent absconded with nearly $80,000 will stand. Nationstar Mortgage LLC sought to have the ruling overturned.
