WilmerHale Antitrust Pro Named Intel's Top Lawyer

Law360, New York (November 13, 2009, 4:06 PM ET) -- Intel Corp. is taking antitrust compliance seriously, and wants enforcement agencies to know it. That's the signal the company is sending by signing a peace pact with Advanced Micro Devices Inc. and naming WilmerHale LLP partner and antitrust expert Douglas Melamed as its general counsel, according to attorneys.

The Santa Clara, Calif.-based chip maker announced the appointment of Melamed, 63, as its top lawyer on Friday, a day after settling a long-running antitrust and intellectual property dispute with AMD for a cool $1.25 billion.
