FTC Judge Kills Battery Cos.' 2-Year-Old Merger

Law360, New York (March 08, 2010, 7:15 PM ET) -- A Federal Trade Commission administrative judge has ordered battery company Polypore International Inc. to sell off Microporous Products LP, finding the $76 million acquisition anti-competitive more than two years after its completion.

The divestiture ruling, an initial decision authored by FTC Chief Administrative Law Judge D. Michael Chappell, requires Polypore to sell its stake in Microporous to an FTC-approved buyer within six months after the order is finalized.
