Senate Panel OKs Obama's Pick To Lead DOJ Antitrust Unit

Law360, New York (September 20, 2012, 6:49 PM ET) -- The Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday approved the nomination of William Baer as assistant attorney general to head up the U.S. Department of Justice's Antitrust Division, following a closed-door session held by the panel.

The committee greenlighted Baer's nomination, without any public debate, in a 12-5 vote, largely along partisan lines. Republican Sens. Michael Lee of Utah and Lindsey Graham of South Carolina joined Democrats in backing the Arnold & Porter LLP partner.
