Law360, New York (August 08, 2012, 10:33 PM ET) -- The U.S. Department of Justice has appointed a former federal prosecutor as its whistleblower ombudsman, the department said Monday, a new position a legal expert says could signal the government's increased reliance on whistleblowers to uncover fraud and abuse.
DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz said Robert Storch will train and educate employees on the role of whistleblowers in improving government operations, monitor whistleblower investigations and advise employees on legal rights and protections against retaliation.
