Law360, New York (May 05, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- A group of construction contracting firms has agreed to pay a collective $1.65 million to black employees who were allegedly subjected to racial harassment, including the alleged display of hangman's nooses, at a power plant construction site.
The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission said Monday that the firms — Conectiv, A.C. Dellovade Inc., Steel Suppliers Erectors Inc. and Matrix Services Industrial Contractors — agreed to the payout in order to settle charges that they subjected black employees to racial slurs, graffiti and displays of hangman's nooses...
