Law360, New York (August 27, 2009, 6:23 PM ET) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has hit Edison International subsidiary Midwest Generation EME LLC with a suit accusing the electrical utility of operating plants that release unlawfully high levels of acid rain-causing and asthma-inducing pollutants.
In a suit filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the EPA said Midwest Generation must reduce pollutants emitted from six Chicago-area coal-fired power plants to adequate levels set by the Clean Air Act.
