Law360, New York (April 22, 2011, 7:59 PM ET) -- Staff scientists at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on Tuesday called for stricter fine particulate air quality standards, arguing that a revised policy could better protect public health.
The scientists said available information clearly calls into question the adequacy of the standards for fine particulate matter, and that revising the standards should be considered. The EPA is in the process of reviewing its national ambient air quality standards for particulate matter, and said a rule would be proposed by July.
