Shell Wants Ex-Worker Sanctioned Over Discovery Fight

Law360, New York (July 08, 2011, 1:00 PM ET) -- Shell Offshore Inc. asked a Louisiana federal judge on Thursday to sanction an ex-drilling supervisor for flouting discovery requests tied to an agreement that ended a suit accusing him of submitting phony invoices worth millions to the oil giant.

Citing the Fifth Amendment, ex-drilling supervisor Greg Courtney failed to comply with Shell's requests for financial documents after the oil company agreed to drop the suit as long as he paid it $1.3 million under a separate criminal judgment, the oil giant claimed Thursday.
