Law360, New York (October 17, 2007, 12:00 AM ET) -- The European Commission took action against five European Union member states on Wednesday over harmful levels of air pollution, which could cause environmental damage and health risks.
The commission said that France, Italy, Spain, Slovenia and the United Kingdom had exceeded EU limits on ambient concentrations of sulfur dioxide, an air pollution usually generated from industrial smokestacks.
