Deals Rumor Mill: Warburg Pincus, Guangdong, KIC

By Benjamin Horney (March 30, 2015, 7:28 PM EDT) -- Private equity outfit Warburg Pincus is looking to raise a new $12 billion global fund, Reuters reported on Monday, just two years after closing an $11.2 billion fund. According to the report, that short time frame is particularly newsworthy considering that other private equity firms, including the likes of Blackstone Group LP and Silver Lake Partners LP, normally take four to six years on average to spend investor money for similarly sized global funds. Warburg differs from other firms in that it makes venture capital and growth equity investments in addition to leveraged buyouts, the report noted....
