DOJ Seeks $1.6M From EPNG In NC Cleanup

Law360, New York (March 04, 2009, 12:00 AM ET) -- The U.S. Department of Justice has lodged a consent decree against El Paso Natural Gas Co., seeking nearly $1.6 million in cleanup costs for a North Carolina Superfund site.

The consent decree, filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina, would require EPNG to pay $1.5 million the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and $110,000 to the state of North Carolina. The decree still requires approval from the judge.
