Exxon Unit Told To Probe La. Pipeline Oil Spill

Law360, New York (May 09, 2012, 7:40 PM ET) -- A unit of Exxon Mobil Corp. must thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding a 1,900-barrel oil spill two weeks ago before it can restart a pipeline segment in Louisiana, federal regulators said Wednesday.

The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration is requiring numerous steps before it will allow full resumption of the North Line portion running from Baton Rouge to Shreveport.

Exxon spokeswoman Claire Hassett said repair work will commence this week.
