Law360, New York (July 22, 2004, 12:00 AM ET) -- A trial over patent rights to Sanofi-Synthélabo’s best-selling blood-thinning drug Plavix has been delayed until next year, leaving a shadow over the French pharmaceutical company.
A change of judge in the Plavix lawsuit, with U.S. District Judge Sidney Stein taking over earlier this year, has delayed the trial by "three to six months,” Hanspeter Spek, Sanofi's head of pharmaceutical operations, told a press conference.
He said a verdict was not expected "before the first or second quarters of 2005.”
