Law360, New York (July 02, 2012, 8:02 PM ET) -- A federal judge on Friday shot down a Florida law barring doctors from asking patients about gun ownership, saying the prohibition runs afoul of free speech protections and appears to address largely imaginary discrimination.
U.S. District Judge Marcia G. Cooke invalidated provisions of the law restricting the right of health care practitioners to record information about firearm possession in patient files and ordering them to generally refrain from asking about ownership of guns and ammunition.
