ITC Takes On DVD Patent Probe

Law360, New York (January 03, 2006, 12:00 AM ET) -- The U.S. International Trade Commission has stepped into a patent spat between software company InterVideo Inc. and computer maker Dell Inc., agreeing to investigate InterVideo’s allegations that Dell’s products infringe its patents for DVD playback functions.

The investigation will also include software makers WinBook Computer Corp, Cyberlink Corp. and Cyberlink.com Corp.

InterVideo has requested that the ITC issue a permanent injunction prohibiting the four companies from importing any of the infringing products.
