Canada Air Cargo Antitrust Probe Nets Qantas Plea

Law360, New York (July 07, 2009, 12:00 AM ET) -- Canada's Competition Bureau has secured a fourth guilty plea stemming from its investigation into an air cargo price-fixing scheme, with Qantas Airways Ltd. admitting to fixing surcharges on air cargo on certain routes from Canada.

Qantas admitted that its freight division participated in the conspiracy between May 2002 and February 2006, during which Qantas Freight moved cargo from Canada to the U.S. for shipment to Australia and other destinations, the competition regulator said Tuesday.
