National Semiconductor, Dell Strike Data Patent Deal

Law360, New York (July 13, 2009, 12:00 AM ET) -- Dell Inc. and National Semiconductor Corp. received approval on Monday for a settlement dismissing Dell’s claims that National Semiconductor breached an industrywide pact to license out portions of four of its data transmission patents.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Charles Everingham of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas gave the two technology companies the final go-ahead for their negotiated deal, which dismisses with prejudice Dell’s claims over four patents for National Semiconductor’s NWAY technology, used in high-speed Ethernet data transmission.
