Law360, New York (March 12, 2004, 12:00 AM ET) -- Canadian market researcher Taylor Nelson Sofres and U.S. rival Nielsen Media Research have settled a patent lawsuit over television rating technology.
Nielsen Media Research had charged that the picture matching technology used by BBM Canada for its television ratings service and supplied by Taylor Nelson Sofres infringed Nielsen's Canadian Patent 2,150,539.
The Nielsen patent concerns a method of metering television usage by reading codes and creating signatures associated with television programming viewed in homes.
