ITC Launches Samsung Flash Memory Probe

Law360, New York (August 24, 2009, 6:05 PM ET) -- The U.S. International Trade Commission announced Monday it would begin investigating several major technology companies using, importing or making Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. flash memory chips, at the behest of BTG International Inc., which claims the chips infringe several of its patents.

The ITC voted to open an official inquiry into the Samsung chips and companies that use the multilevel cell NAND flash memory chips in imported consumer electronic products such as laptops, cell phones and MP3 players.
